The Federal Revenue of Brazil, which is just a few hours away from the end, released a note this Friday (11/18) stating that it will study ways to continue the unification of the Federal Revenue and Social Security Revenue departments. According to the IRS, the unification, although it lasted a short time, brought advantages. Read the full note from the Federal Revenue of Brazil PRESS NOTE The central objective of Provisional Measure (MP) No. 258/2005 was to reorganize the Union's tax administration, aiming mainly at simplifying and rationalizing work processes, optimizing resources, improving taxpayer service, with the consequent increase in revenue, without increasing the tax burden.
The unification of the federal tax authorities, even with the reduced duration of the aforementioned MP, brought important advantages such as: – unification of 10 taxpayer service units; – standardization of the validity period of Debt Clearance Certificates (CND); – integration of inspection areas; – unification of the tax agenda; – unification of the areas of litigation, internal Belize Email List affairs, logistics, people management and intelligence; – increase in federal tax collection in the months of August and September 2005. The Federal Revenue of Brazil informs that the necessary measures will be adopted so that the impact caused by the loss of effectiveness of MP 258 is minimized and does not cause losses to taxpayers.
The Secretariats of Federal Revenue and Social Security understand that the decision to pursue the path of tax unification is irreversible and brings benefits to the country, as demonstrated by the results achieved in the short period of unification. Therefore, efforts will be made to preserve the benefits arising from the measures implemented during the MP. They also clarify that ways of continuing the unification process are being studied. Finally, they emphasize that competitions for the positions of Federal Revenue Tax Auditor and Federal Revenue Technician will be held and possible adaptations are being evaluated by the competent bodies. In practice, however, depending on the categories involved, little or nothing was unified. Furthermore, during the time that Super-Receita “operated”, from August 15th, tax technicians and auditors went on strike.
